Is SpiralHQ listed with HMRC for Making Tax Digital?
Not yet. We are building MTD VAT filing and will list it here once HMRC lists SpiralHQ.
Do I need a card to start?
No. Your 30-day trial has full access with no card required.
What happens when I cross the VAT threshold?
SpiralHQ does not monitor your turnover yet. Threshold alerts are on the roadmap. Until then, keep an eye on your rolling 12-month turnover against the £90,000 limit.
Can my accountant access my books?
Yes. Invite your accountant as a member of your workspace and set their role from Settings.
Will it work for my trade?
Yes, whatever you call your work. If you send invoices, take payments or keep track of what you spend in the UK, SpiralHQ is built for it.
How secure is my financial data?
Sign-in is handled by Clerk, with Google sign-in available. When you remove a member from your workspace, they lose access at once. SpiralHQ does not connect to your bank, so it never holds your banking credentials.
Can I edit an invoice after it is sent?
No. Only drafts can be edited. If a sent invoice is wrong, void it and issue a new one.
What is your refund policy?
You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of your current billing period. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where the law requires it.
Does SpiralHQ support multiple tax regimes?
No. SpiralHQ is built for UK VAT, with Standard, Reduced, Zero-rated and Exempt categories on each invoice line.
How do reminders and follow-ups work?
You send them. Open a pending or part-paid invoice, choose Reminder, and SpiralHQ emails your customer with the invoice attached. Automatic schedules are not available yet.
Is there a customer portal?
No. Each invoice email links to a page where your customer can view the invoice and download the PDF without an account, and pay through your own payment link once you’ve added one in Settings.
